SEPT./OCT. 2007 VOLUME 110 NUMBER 2 Fellow '78ers, thanks for all your news updates, both e-mail and snail mail. Look for David Kaplan's (dkaplan007@optonline.net) latest book, published in July 2007 by HarperCollins. It's called Mine's Bigger: Tom Perkins and the Making of the Greatest Sailing Machine Ever Built. It's about the largest, most-expensive highest-tech private sailboat in the world--the 289-foot clipper The Maltese Falcon. It probably won't fit on Beebe Lake. Linda Dillman, BS Nurs '78 (derosanp@aol.com) reports that she is a geriatric nurse practitioner in a community-based geriatric practice affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. She is also an associate clinical instructor at the Columbia U. School of Nursing. She precepts nurse practitioner students from other programs as well (NYU, Hunter). Her real passion is ballroom dancing, which occupies most of her spare time. She competes pro-am with her instructor in international standard at the silver level. She is also an avid cyclist, logging 2,500 road miles a year. Per Linda, life is good. Joe and Pam Lubeck live in Jupiter, FL with kids Karla '07, BA '06, Rachel, and Thomas. Joe is managing partner of Landmark Residential, a major multi-family real estate owner in the Southeast. They recently returned from a trip to Israel to visit Karla, who was there for a year as a volunteer teaching English in absorption centers. The whole family found the trip exciting and inspiring, and report no incidents where they felt concerned or unsafe. Karla will be starting a master's program at Georgetown in September. The family is also excited that Rachel has been accepted to the AAP college for the fall. They all enjoy Florida life, and in addition to family activities of golf and boating, Joe foolishly started racing Ferraris and participated in the recent Maranello Madness and Cavallino events at the Moroso Raceway--no crashes so far! "We look forward to seeing all our friends at the upcoming reunion!" Gary Graziano, BArch '79 (GGraziano@high.net) was recently re-elected as an officer and secretary to the board of directors of AltusGroup Inc., which is dedicated to developing and marketing innovative precast products. Gary was also elected treasurer of the Mid-Atlantic Precast Association, an industry trade group serving precast concrete producers and their suppliers. In addition to these two job-related posts, Gary was elected to the board of the newly formed United Disabilities Services Foundation, a public charity that he helped found. It provides funding and management oversight for nonprofit organizations that give home-care and community-based services to thousands of people with disabilities in central, south central, and eastern Pennsylvania. He was also appointed to the newly formed board of trustees for the to-be-built Manheim Township Public Library. Subsequent to his appointment as a trustee, Gary was elected vice president and spokesperson for the board. John DePolo writes that he and wife Lorraine and sons James, 8, and Steven, 4, live in Chapel Hill, NC, a great location to raise a family. They love it there and moved a little over two years ago after spending 14 years in Atlanta. Before that, they lived in D.C., California, Pennsylvania, and Ohio before getting married at UVA's chapel in 1989. "We just welcomed my mother, age 88, to the household. We are truly the ‘sandwich generation,' to use a cliché." Professionally, John has his own consulting firm (Cornell Strategy Solutions LLC), where he assists clients in improving their recruiting functions, and has a local and global client base. SEP./OCT. 2006 VOLUME 109 NUMBER 2 78 | You can't beat fall weather in Ithaca. As you reflect on the beautiful leaves changing colors and the Big Red football team trouncing their foes (hey, after 30 years, even the football team was good), please view the news and notes from our classmates. Seth Klion (SethKlion@aol.com) and wife Janet are the parents of three young female adults, ages 22, 19, and 17, and live in South Salem, NY. Jodi '06 (ILR) graduated this past May, moved to Manhattan, and is working at Bristol-Myers. Dana '09 (CALS) is looking forward to her next three years. Rachel, the original CU wannabe in the family, will make her intentions known this coming fall as an early decision applicant to the CALS AEM program. This family certainly has CU red flowing through its veins. Many parents noted that it has been an emotion-filled year--surpassing their 50th year, first child graduating college, empty-nester status now in full view. Time does fly. Michael Levine reports the big news that he and wife Joni have son Sam '09 who recently completed his freshman year in Arts and Sciences. He had a great dorm life at the incomparable Court Hall--a lot more lux than the old Sperry Hall on West Campus where Michael was. Sam has a regular gig on WVBR and will intern for Newsweek this summer under the tutelage of David Kaplan. Sam is friends with some of my old buddies' kids, including Claudia Cohen '09, whose mother Cindy Green '79 and I worked for Cornell's legendary developmental psychologist Urie Bronfenbrenner '38 on his groundbreaking cross-national research studies in the late 1970s at old Martha Van. We have two other children, Zach, 15, and Sarah, 11, who attend school in New York City and New Jersey, respectively. We are based in Teaneck, NJ, where we are close friends of Nadav and Debbie Herman Nahshon '79. On a personal note I am now serving as VP, New Media and Director of Education for Asia Society, the NYC-based global organization focused on making education about other world regions, languages, and cultures a national priority. Michael would be delighted to hear from old friends at mlevine@asiasoc.org. Roger Anderson and his family visited the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY, and, quite by accident, stayed at a farm resort run by John Sovocool and his wife. John keeps his Cornell yearbook in the resort office to show guests, and is quite proud that his daughter recently graduated from Cornell. He ran the Boston Marathon and is planning to run the New York Marathon this fall. John's twin brother Wayne was also a classmate. Belinda Ward (wardkirby@aol.com), husband Frank Kirby, and their two children live in Ridgefield, CT. Belinda currently writes for "Sesame Street" and will create and head write for "The Upside Down Show" debuting on Noggin in 2007. Belinda has fond memories of the chocolate chip cookies at Cornell. Given the choice, Belinda would rather write a novel. Randy Strongin Weiss currently enjoys life in Centerport, NY. She remembers the beautiful landscapes at Cornell and the Herbert F. Johnson museum. Randy would like to here from Karen Cornelius. Any news? Stuart Cordell writes in from the rustbelt of northeastern Ohio. He has enjoyed the same office at Warren & Young for the last 23 years, although the firm did have it redecorated five years ago. Stuart focuses on economic redevelopment in the area. His two children are in college. Daughter Elise '07 will take on her senior year at Cornell, where she lives in Collegetown and enjoys Kappa Delta sorority activities, and his younger daughter will start her sophomore year at Coastal Carolina. Stuart enjoyed a two week vacation in Spain, helped by his wife's fluency in Spanish. He misses the constant activity across all disciplines at Cornell. Stuart calls out for news from the Sigma Chis and comments that the new Greystone is beautiful. Mike Bernard (mandibernard@earthlink.net) sends us news from Albuquerque, NM. He currently serves as a senior systems research analyst studying foreign countries' directed energy (laser) and radio-frequency weapons systems. He plays softball with a bunch of 30-year-olds and enjoyed the Cubs and White Sox spring training. He also spends time converting his albums to CDs and Super-8 and 8mm videos to DVDs. In addition, Mike teaches fourth and eighth grade religious education. If he had the time, he would play more golf and see more national parks. We heard from Seattle, WA, where James Hoffman (enjoyingtheview@comcast.net) and his wife Sharon live. James is president of the Hoffman Group. His memories of Cornell include Beebe Lake, late nights at the truck, the suspension bridge, wine tasting class, and freshman year in the dorms. Nancy Kilmer DuBois (nkdubois@gmail.com) reports from Plano, TX, where she enjoys empty nesting with husband David. Nancy splits working time between costume designer at the Dallas Repertoire Ballet and office manager at Academy of Dance Arts. Nancy recalls the great friends at Cornell. If given the option, Nancy would sit on a beach and enjoy a good book. Susan Hartwell Bradley, MS '83 (susanbradley@comcast.net) recalls her participation in athletics as her Cornell fond memory. She would love to play lacrosse if she were only in 1978 form. Susan and husband Robert live in Eagan, MN. She is a freelance writer and mom to Ross, 14, Sean, 11, and Kendall, 9. She enjoys her family and church activities. Susan has also written and self-published a humor book, Who Knew? The Inside Story of Being a Mom. She keeps in touch with her close Cornell friends. I hope all is well with you. Please continue to send news. -- Chip Brueckman, jcb58@cornell.edu; or Pepi F. Leids, PLeids@aol.com. Go Big Red! |

They have one child attending Boston College; the other two are still at home and attend the Taipei American School. Eve Murphy Reid found her true love in Warren P. Weitman Jr., the chairman of Sotheby's North and South American operations. They first met 25 years ago in Staten Island, and both had other spouses and family over the intervening years. They became reacquainted within the last six years. Their romance reads like a fairytale, as reported in the New York Times this past summer. They got married in July and are living happily ever after! Karl Loh and his wife Gigi live in New Jersey. They have two young children, a daughter in kindergarten and a son in pre-school. Don is the West Coast VP of retail sales for British Petroleum. Diane is the director of social work services at Irvine Regional Hospital. They are both active in alumni activities and serve as chairs of the Central Orange County CAAAN. I had the pleasure of enjoying dinner with Diane, Don, and their family when they came to Ithaca last August to travel with Nikki and Michael at the start of the school year. We all enjoyed the "mini-reunion" and traded stories from the last 20 years! Since news is running short (if you haven't yet sent in your News Form from our annual mailing, please do so), I can brag a bit. I have a Border collie with which I compete in agility. We earned our Master Agility Champion title this past summer. It was very exciting and I have another dog in training now. Please let us know what's happening in your life. -- Pepi F. NOV./DEC. 2005 VOLUME 108 NUMBER 3 78 | Jonathan Warach still enjoys the practice of neurology, which he describes as "a fascinating specialty that embodies the full range of human experience and interfaces with the mind and soul." They were quite impressed with the Chinese hospitality and their Asian experience in general. Stephen also notes that the brothers of Sigma Pi started a "Name that Pi-Man" e-mail last year. There are now hundreds of brothers receiving news and participating every week. It is great for catching up with old friends and memories. Richard Chuchla (rchuchla@aol.com) has finished an assignment managing Exxon/Mobil's exploration program in Angola and the Congo. Currently, he is the company's strategic planning manager and lives in Houston. Richard is married to Elizabeth (Green) and they have three children. She is a manager of a nearby "Curves," has lost over 30 pounds, and is having a blast managing "a place that is dedicated to the health of women of all ages, colors, and sizes." Kathy still writes every day between 3:00 and 6:00 a.m.; she is convinced that she has not left East Coast time. She has been involved in the Hi-Desert Playhouse and Cultural Center, performing in one play and helping with lights in two others. Court Williams (cdwelliot@aol.com) lives in Fairfield, CT, where he works as an executive recruiter with Elliot Associates specializing in CEOs and department officers in the restaurant chain industry. She reports that her former roommate Leslie Branch Kulick '77 has children Matthew '07 and Rachel '09 attending Cornell. Margie's husband Peter spent five weeks overseeing relief efforts in Sri Lanka and Aceh, Indonesia, after the tsunami last year. Cindy Fuller, PhD '92 (cjfuller@mindspring.com) reports that she and Julian Vrieslander, PhD '81, have fallen into a crowd of fellow "foodies" who make regular explorations into Seattle restaurants and ethnic groceries. They also visited Victoria and the Olympic Peninsula. Cindy has had a chapter published in the second edition of Cardiovascular Nutrition. She teaches part-time and does freelancing as a medical writer. Mark Rouleau (nassaugroup@hotmail.com), his wife Lisa, and two sons live in Derby, KS. They found a 40-acre property with stables. They don't have any horses yet, but they have been clearing brush and "getting poison ivy every other weekend." Mark took his sons to Minneapolis to see their first Cornell hockey game and Mark's first in 27 years! He said that the Cornellians that were there "took over the place cheering for the Big Red." That game disappointingly resulted in an overtime loss for Cornell. Mark follows Big Red sports closely and the Internet access has made it that much easier. JuanMa Morales (sonidocosteno@msn.com) lives in Brooklyn with his wife Maria. JuanMa's band Sonido Costeno placed third in the Billboard songwriting contest for Latin music. More news is always welcome! -- Pepi F. Leids, PLeids@aol.com; Diane Elliott, dje35@cornell.edu. |

She writes, "I wish I had had that opportunity as an undergraduate, but in some ways it's more fun now sharing the experience with my own child." Her husband Robert received a master's degree in educational leadership from Vermont College. He continues to enjoy coaching the Norwich U. rugby teams and would love to hear from former CU ruggers at his e-mail address, rweggler@norwich.edu. The Wegglers contacted classmate Stephen Cushman out of the blue via e-mail. He has been an English professor at the U. of Virginia for 23 years. Stephen and his wife Sandra (Bain) '79 have two sons, ages 14 and 18. Gary Graziano, BArch '79 (ggraziano@high.net), was promoted to VP of marketing for the High Concrete Group companies (www.highconcrete.com), re-elected secretary to the Altusgroup Inc. board, and elected secretary to the board of United Disabilities Services. As if all that doesn't take up enough time, he is president-elect of the Philadelphia chapter of the Product Development and Management Association. Gary and his wife Nancy Ann live in Lititz, PA, with their son Dan, who studies at RIT, and Liza, 13, who is in high school. Jeanne Arnold Schwetje lives in Mattituck, NY, with her husband John. They did some home renovating in time for all the relatives from across the Atlantic to stay with them for the wedding. Jeanne and John went to Anguilla last winter over the holiday break. They are looking forward to enjoying time together in their "empty nest" and plan to go sailing and play gigs. Laura Howe Czekaj (lgczekaj@cs.com) reports that her daughter Claire graduated from the U. of Delaware with a BS in mathematics. Her daughter Katie is at Rutgers, majoring in English. Laura visited the Cornell campus with her sister Francey and husband Bill Welker '73, MBA '75, to hear their son Stephen sing with the Glee Club Hangovers. Gary Holcomb (gholcomb07401@yahoo.com) and his wife Julie live in New Jersey and have children David, 14, and Mary, 12. Gary has accepted a position as CEO of Coining of America LLC, a manufacturer of specialty materials for the semiconductor industry in Saddle Brook, NJ. Pamela Savage-Roglich (roglich@sbcglobal.net) is a vice president at J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. in Chicago. She and husband Marion Roglich, MILR '76, have two children, Madeline, 9, who plays soccer and softball, and Evan, 11, who plays basketball, baseball, and lacrosse. It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Helen Marts Murphy, who died of complications of cancer. She is survived by her husband Paul and children Keith and Julia. Helen was an IT manager for various high-tech firms in New Jersey. She was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and was president and board member of Luna Stage Company in Montclair throughout the 1990s. Helen was a painter, sculptor, and amateur musician and a member of the Hoboken Renaissance Singers; she enjoyed ballet, theater, reading, and travel. Our class mourns the loss of one of our members. Marguerite Blythe (Blythemd@fuse.net) lives in Cincinnati with her husband Douglas Katchen. Marguerite, who practices psychiatry, was named the Doctor of the Year at Mercy Hospital Western Hills. She graduated from Cornell's New York Hospital School of Nursing and went to medical school at the U. of Cincinnati. She says that the best training for being a physician is being a nurse first. Mary Rose Gallagher (maryrose.gallagher@mchsi.com) lives in Fairfield, IA, and is working in social services. Larry Skoczylas (skocz@chartermi.net), along with his partners, built a new oral and maxillofacial surgery center. It doubled their capacity and will allow the dentists to do more types of surgery in the office than they could before. Larry and his wife Kathleen had a son, Mitchell David, last year. He joins siblings Tom, 12, and Erin, 10. They reside in Midland, MI. Our class is looking for volunteers for class officers. It is a great way to reconnect with old and new Cornell friends and keep in touch with what is happening on campus. Ken Mogil's death left us without a permanent class president. This sounds like a daunting task, but it is in fact very manageable. We are also looking for a new webmaster. That position gets good support from the Alumni Affairs office and assistance is always available. We'd like to thank Eileen Brill Wagner for her years of dedicated service as a class correspondent. She has resigned from that position, which leaves just one of us to write the column. Please let me know if you are interested in the job of co-class correspondent. Diane Elliott has volunteered to help gather information from e-mails and forward it. You can contact me at the e-mail address below, or Tina Gourley in Class and Reunion Programs at Alumni House (e-mail, tlg5@cornell.edu). Thanks for considering the opportunity to serve your class, have some fun, and reconnect with Cornell. -- Pepi F. Leids, PLeids@aol.com; Diane Elliott, dje35@cornell.edu. |

Holly has recently developed, patented, and launched a new natural sleep product that can be taken anytime, even in the middle of the night. Look for www.midnitesleep.com or ask for it in drugstores. Laura Day Ayers, MBA '86 (lauraa876@aol.com) and her husband David '80 live in Chester, NJ. Their daughter Kathleen is in high school and very involved with soccer and golf, along with a variety of other school activities. She will attend the summer college at Cornell this year. Gloria went on a rafting trip in the Grand Canyon with her 14-year-old son James. She highly recommends it as a break from the everyday mother/teenager communication dynamic of "nag and grant." MAY/JUN. 2005 VOLUME 107 NUMBER 6 Do you realize that it's been almost 27 years since graduation and there are some of you out there who've been reading this column, year after year, giving us nary a clue as to what you've been up to? To say we're curious is an understatement, so please drop us a line. In his first update since graduation, Gerard Badorrek (gbadorrek@cox.net) writes that he is currently VP of business operations at MCI and living in Northern Virginia outside of Washington, DC. He and his wife Barbara have three boys named Tyler, Trevor, and Brian. Since graduating from Cornell, he has received an MA in economics from Case Western Reserve U. and an MBA from Stanford. After stints in manufacturing and consulting, he moved to MCI and has been there for 20 years, including the Worldcom days. Gerard says he's become an avid golfer. He sees Mike Bernard and occasionally keeps in touch with Mike Kupin, Charlie Tall, Harry Rudolph, and Rich Kremheller. Allison '08, the oldest daughter of David and June Drake Hayford (juniedrake@aol.com) is a freshman at Cornell. She is the fourth generation in the family to attend Cornell, following June, Peggy Ann Jack Drake '49, and Andrew Jack '19. The Hayfords live in Alpharetta, GA, near Atlanta, with their three other children. Judith LeVie Mishkin, wife of the forgetful Nathaniel (who reported everyone's news but that of his wife of 26 years in the last column), says that she took her husband's failure to supply any news about her in stride and is doing well. She's on the board of the Northern Ballet Theatre dance company. Sarah Beran Steinberg, ME '79, has been named associate dean of Advanced Academic Programs at the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Science at Johns Hopkins U. She had worked for more than a decade for the Whiting School of Engineering there. Before coming to Johns Hopkins in 1993, she worked as a marketing manager and senior engineer at Froehling and Robertson Inc. in Sterling, VA. Sherri Miller Edelman, who lives in Reisterstown, MD, is an employee benefits attorney with Ober Kaler Attorneys at Law in Baltimore. She is a member of the California and Maryland State Bars. Brian Murdock has been appointed to the Executive Management Committee of New York Life Insurance Co., the largest mutual life insurance company in the US. This committee, composed of New York Life's senior executives, directs the policies and procedures for the company. Brian is president of New York Life Investment Management LLC, the company's investment subsidiary, and oversees a variety of business and business support units. Prior to joining New York Life, Brian worked for Merrill Lynch for 25 years and held a number of senior positions that spanned the US, Europe, and Asia/Pacific regions. He lives in Princeton, NJ, with his wife and four children. "Reunions, large or small, reinforce the fact that friendships formed decades ago are Cornell's true gift that keeps on giving," says Rae Nelson (Raennc@aol.com). She sent a follow-up e-mail after our mini-reunion in Cleveland late last fall at the home of her roommate and my other U-Hall 2 neighbor Alexandra "Sandy" Buchanan (sbuchanan@ohiocitizen.org). Personally, I think the sentimental quote is just an excuse for not having attended any of our past five class reunions in Ithaca. But however brief the visit, getting together with such dear friends was well worth the wait for me. Rae is co-author (with husband Karl Haigler) of The Gap-Year Advantage: How Your Child Can Benefit From Time Off Before or During College (St. Martin's Press, August 2005), which may be of interest to Cornell parents whose high schoolers or college-aged kids want to explore the world before a post-secondary commitment and/or just may not be ready to take full advantage of all that college life has to offer. Sandy is the executive director of Ohio Citizen Action, Ohio's largest environmental organization, where she's worked since graduating from Cornell. Her husband Bill Whitney is Cleveland director of the Enterprise Foundation, and their sons are 16 and 13. Want to combine your love of travel with your enjoyment of all things Cornell? For those looking for some stimulating trips with wonderful people, consider going on one of the Cornell Adult University (CAU) Off-Campus Study Tours. Last year Catherine Anne Murray and Jeffrey and Suzanne Tougas Snedeker studied the wildlife and natural habitats of Iceland; Robert Marrazzo visited Rome to take a closer look at Life and Power in Imperial Rome; Terry Seewald Klein and Randi Lebar traveled to Costa Rica on a expedition designed for families; and Kathleen Clark, DVM '78, attended a weekend seminar on ornithology and ecology at Assateague Island, VA. So . . . if you've made it to the end of this column, we can only assume that you care about our class and its goings-on. We're also hoping that at least of few of you, still energized from our 25th Reunion, are looking for ways to get more involved. Right now we're looking for a new class president, a webmaster, and one or two class correspondents. As an added bonus to these inherently satisfying jobs, volunteers will be able to attend the New Officer Training, a new initiative sponsored by the Cornell Association of Class Officers (CACO), which will be held in Ithaca in the early fall. Let us know if you're interested! -- Eileen Brill Wagner, brillcon@cox.net; Pepi F. Leids, pleids@aol.com. |

JAN./FEB. 2005 VOLUME 107 NUMBER 4 78 | Jim Stewart (jk.stewart@comcast.net) and his wife Kate (Gavin) live in Andover, MA. Their daughter Amy attends Cornell (Arts and Sciences), and Jim and Kate look forward to visiting Ithaca often. They have two other children:Michael in high school and Colleen in middle school. Mike Bernard has a second grandson. Mike is listed in Who's Who of American Teachers. He teaches chemistry and, ironically, recalls having nearly blown up a room during a Chem 207 lab at Cornell! Meg Mitchell Weingart (mam62@cornell.edu) lives in Cleveland, OH, and just adopted a second child from eastern Siberia. Robert Weggler (rweggler@norwich.edu) lives in Northfield, VT, with his wife Sunshine (Lorenz). Their daughter Rose, 18, attends the U. of Vermont, and son Ryan '06, 22, transferred to Cornell's AAP college to major in City and Regional Planning. Robert received his MEd from Vermont College in July. He took the Norwich men's rugby team to the USA Rugby's National Sweet 16 Tournament in Colorado, but lost to Brigham Young U. They did beat Texas A&M, however. Their good friend and classmate Debbie Downes-Stoj, MD '82, had a baby, Stefanie, in January. Michael Banks (mbanks@morganlewis.com) writes that he and his wife Lori (Freimark) '79 were on vacation kayaking in Seward, AL, where they met fellow Cornellians Jason Halio '93 and Josh Richter '94. He notes, "We're pleased to report that on the long paddle back to the dock at the end of our 14 miles of kayaking and four miles of hiking, the much younger duo was only trailing the considerably older, married folks by a hundred yards or so." Glenn and Joanne Wallenstein Fishman's son Robert entered Cornell's School of Arts and Sciences this fall. They were hoping to see many of their classmates and their children at Orientation. Glen is now chief of cardiology at NYU School of Medicine, and Joanne (jwallens@optonline.net) is director of marketing at PalTalk (www.PalTalk.com), an instant messaging and group chat program, including audio and video. They live in Scarsdale, NY. Stephanie Mitchell, JD '80 (sjm46@cornell.edu), who lives in Brussels, Belgium, passed a competition to become a "fonctionnaire" for the European Commission, where she has begun working on automobile industry policy and cooperation. She is passing her "spare" time learning Dutch and flamenco and re-learning French and German. Stephanie finally met up with Paul Rohrlich, who is now at the US Embassy in Belgium--"only 28 years after losing touch when I spent my junior year abroad!" Mark Pinnie (mpinnie@bmplaw.net) had the chance to get together with fellow fraternity brothers Tom Groos and Steve Follett in King of Prussia, PA. He said they "both look fantastic," but it was undecided who would win in a tennis singles grudge match. Stay tuned for updates! Diane Root Naar (Root1956@aol.com) lives in Palo Alto, CA, with husband Mike and three boys, ages 11, 15, and 18. Through a series of corporate acquisitions, Nathaniel Mishkin (mishkin@aya.yale.edu) went from working at a 30-person startup 11 years ago to a 300,000-person, not-so-startup (IBM). He was named an IBM "Distinguished Engineer" this year. His daughter Libby, 16, spent the month of July learning Italian in Italy, and his son Geoff, 19, started at Boston U. this summer, planning to major in computer science, like his dad. As for me, I finally made the jump from the corporate world, as a business journalist, to the nonprofit world, working as program director for a wonderful Phoenix based organization called Valley Leadership. Through both teen and adult programs, we educate residents about community issues, engage in dialogue about possible solutions, and instill in them a passion to serve their communities. Our oldest, Leah, 19, is a sophomore at Oberlin in Ohio, and we're still trying to figure out how to handle upcoming tuition bills for younger siblings Briana, 16, and Simone, 13. I'm sure many of you are facing similar predicaments. This is the quarterly plea for you to send in any and all news about you, your families, and your Cornell friends since what was once a healthy stream of News and Dues forms has slowed to a mere trickle. Remember, no news is bad news from this perspective. -- Eileen Brill Wagner, brillcon@cox.net; and Pepi F. Leids, pleids@aol.com. |
